Training Day

I spent all day yesterday with a film crew from Digital Kitchen, getting shots for a very exciting project. We'll fill you in on that once we are able to. The crew followed me and Amy (and Amy's babysitter Maggie) as we went from workout to workout. The day started with a 2 hour ride, right into a track workout. This was my first track workout in about 2 years and it went surprisingly well. Two things contributed to this. One was that I focused on Amy's stroller, which was parked on the starting line, as I ran down the backstretch. Knowing I was going to see her little face every lap motivated me to run my 800m repeats faster than my goal pace. The second thing was that I was being filmed, so I really focused on keeping my running form together.

After the track workout, we went home, refueled with a protein shake and set up our living room for an interview. We chatted for an hour and then rushed up to the lake for a swim. By this time it was pouring rain and the lake was in a giant cloud. Pretty for swimming, but the view of the cliffs was completely blocked. We swam for about 45 minutes and got in some fun underwater shots.

The final workout of the day was a quick ride to shake out my legs from the track workout. The crew followed me around on one of my favorite easy training loops. You can't really tell in this video, but it was pouring rain. For once, I didn't mind riding in the rain since I was just happy to complete my biggest training day yet.
