Update From Bec

Maya, wondering what these little Nikes are all about.

We’re still waiting! The baby girl is weighing in at more than I did when I was born, which, of course, isn’t saying much since there were 2 of us. As “big” as she is, it looks like we’ll have to wait another week or 2 to meet her. After months and months of counting down the days until her arrival, for the first time, I’m actually HAPPY she’s decided to stay in there a little longer. I need the extra days to recover from a bug picked up during a rigorous Christmas week activity load. It knocked me out New Year’s Eve and made me feel almost as badly as when I drank sewage water during a race in Buenos Aires. Luckily, it was a different kind of sick and only lasted 3 days instead of 3 weeks. But the result is that I have that indoor track breathing feeling and cough. The one that is to be expected after running a 5 minute mile in a stuffy armory, but not exactly ideal to have when going into labor (or so they tell me).

So from here on out, all exercise is off the table. No more daily hikes through the snow to the top of the mountain behind our house. I’ve been ordered to stay at home, put my feet up and stay hydrated. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Exactly what my coach would tell me to do the days before a big race.

Thank you all for checking in and stay tuned for more updates.
